William J. Moore, Attorney at Law, providing Legal services in Coffee County, Dale County, Geneva County and Pike County in Southeast Alabama

Since Alabama has enacted its new Child Support Guidelines. I have found that there has not been a real change. The “new” guidelines allow for a self support section for those with lower incomes, but it has been my experience that these lower income people just have minimum income at 40 hours per week imputed as their income whether or not they have been temporarily let go or just can not get full-time employment. So much for any one looking out for those who are in need. All I have seen with the “new” guidelines is that child support payments have been increased for the non-custodial parent. I have also received great resistance when I have sought a deviation from the guidelines for a just cause.

Tomorrow How to prepare for a custody battle.
